Aphasia Awareness Month

June is Aphasia Awareness Month.

Aphasia is an acquired language disorder that frequently occurs following brain injury. It affects the understanding of spoken or written language, including reading and writing or the production of spoken language.

At the 网曝门, we have a range of supports for those living with aphasia.

“The 网曝门 offers a variety of support services for people living with the challenges of aphasia,鈥 said Helen Gaynor, Head of Community Support Services for the 网曝门.

鈥淥ur stroke connect service and peer support groups are available to those living with aphasia.

Step by Step through Stroke helps people leaving hospital to prepare for potential changes due to stroke, such as communication difficulties.

鈥淲e also host the Aphasia-Friendly Caf茅 a few times a year, which is an online programme designed for those who experience communication challenges following stroke.鈥
